SkillsonlineNS is an online upskilling portal that provides all Nova Scotians with an opportunity to acquire today’s in-demand skills. The program is offered through a partnership between the Department of Labour, Skills, Immigration and the NS Association of CBDCs.

Volunteer Canada

Volunteer Canada was established to provide national leadership and expertise on volunteer engagement to increase the participation, quality, and diversity of volunteer experiences. Since 1977 they have collaborated closely with volunteer centres, businesses, non-profit organizations, government and educational institutions to promote and broaden volunteering. Their programs, research, training, tools, resources and national initiatives provide leadership on issues and trends in Canada’s volunteer landscape.

Charity Village

Charity Village offers paid job postings and free volunteer and event listings as well as nonprofit and charitable sector resources and eLearning courses.

Since 1995, CharityVillage has been the HR partner for recruitment in the Canadian nonprofit sector. Their specialized job and volunteer board for Canadian nonprofit professionals has helped thousands of organizations find exceptional talent. Through their online learning courses, volunteer and event listings, webinars, newsletters, articles, tools and resources, they help nonprofit staff and volunteers do their best work every day.

Impact Organizations of Nova Scotia (IONS)

Located in Mi’kma’ki, Impact Organizations of Nova Scotia (IONS) connects, supports, and advocates for Nova Scotia’s Community Impact Sector. Celebrating 10 years of promoting a healthy, sustainable sector, IONS (formerly the Community Sector Council of Nova Scotia) is one of 14 Industry Sector Councils funded by the Nova Scotia Government Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration (LSI). In service of the Community Impact Sector, IONS’ role is to address sector workforce challenges, to build capacity within organizations, and to increase access to expertise, opportunities, and resources. IONS provides skill building and learning opportunities, network connections, and support for impact organizations.

211 Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia 211 is a 24/7 connection to programs and services in the community. Through information and referrals, they help connect residents to local community groups, non-profit and government organizations. Help starts with a call to 211. Navigators are trained to deal with the most complex and sensitive questions. They connect you, a family member, a friend, neighbour, or a client with organizations able to meet your needs.

Volunteer Management Professionals of Nova Scotia

The Association of Volunteer Management Professionals Nova Scotia (VMPNS) is a provincial association for professionals and leaders working in the field of volunteer resource management. They promote competence and excellence in the leadership of volunteers by fostering collaboration and networking, promoting professional development and certification, and offering mentorship and knowledge exchange. VMPNS is committed to providing advocacy to advance and strengthen the volunteer management profession in Nova Scotia.

Volunteer NS

Volunteer Nova Scotia is a partnership between Kings Volunteer Resource Centre, the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage and Volunteer Canada. This free, province-wide service gives support to volunteer organizations to find skilled volunteers where they are needed, and provides information to those looking for the right volunteer opportunity.
